It present the preparation of the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia, its realization and military defense, the role of Plovdiv in the event, as well as the faces of the authors and ‘actors’ of the Rumelian revolution.

The Unification and its figures
The exhibition is dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the Unification of Eastern Rumelia with the Principality of Bulgaria — one of the most selfless acts of patriotism in Bulgarian history, deeply connected with Plovdiv’s historic role.
The people who took part in its preparation, implementation, and defence – significant figures who left a lasting mark on our past are the focus of this narrative. Quotes from memoirs and the periodical press, documents, photographs, and works of art revive the emotions and aspirations that inspired Bulgarians toward unity and self-sacrifice — values that remain essential today.

Hristo G. Danov – the bookseller who was called a Minister
The exhibition traces the life, work and significant contribution of Hristo G. Danov to the development of education, literature and civil society in Bulgaria. It also presents his public activities – from his participation in the First Bulgarian Agricultural and Industrial Exhibition to his tenure as mayor of Plovdiv.

The exhibitions presents the role of the prominent Plovdiv families — the large Chalăkov family, the small Chalăkov family, the Chomakovs, the Moravenovs, the Kableshkovs, the Gerovs, the Drenski–Hadzhikalchevs, the Veleganovs, the Gyumyushgerdan Family, the Hindilyans and the family of Hristo G. Danov.

The exhibition presents the role of the Geshev, Obreykov, Gerdzhikov, Peev, Genadiev, Tomasyan, Stanchev and Kesyakov families, as well as the contributions of Dr. Konstantin Stoilov, Pavel D. Kalpakchiev, Dimitar Kudoglu, Angel Bukoreshtliev, Alexander Bogoridi and Gavril Krastevich.
