The Regional History Museum – Plovdiv has restored a highly valuable exhibit – an ‘Amerikanka’-type printing press that was once part of Hristo G. Danov’s printing house.

This initiative is part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the opening of the exhibition „Book Publishing in Bulgaria in the Second Half of the 19th and the Beginning of the 20th Century“ in the house of Hristo G. Danov.

We extend our gratitude to Mr. Valentin Denev, whose commitment and dedication contributed to the complete restoration of the machine. The restoration was carried out with the exceptional assistance and professionalism of Elast Metal Plovdiv Ltd., represented by Mr. Valko Atanasov – the company’s manager, and Mr. Zdravko Zlatev, who replaced the roller coating.

We express our sincere appreciation to them for making this project possible.

The restored printing press is a witness to an era in which the work of enlighteners like Hristo G. Danov laid the foundations of modern Bulgarian book publishing and printing. Its restoration is not merely a technical undertaking – it is a symbolic gesture of respect for the legacy of Bulgarian scholars and Revival figures, as well as a valuable contribution to the museum exhibition dedicated to the lives and work of Hristo G. Danov and Dragan Manchov.

The restored machine is now on display in the exhibition ‘Book Publishing in Bulgaria in the Second Half of the 19th and the Beginning of the 20th Century’ at the Regional History Museum – Plovdiv, located at 2 Mitropolit Paisiy Street.

Visitors will have the opportunity to encounter authentic technology used in printing some of the earliest Bulgarian books and textbooks during the second half of the 19th century.
